birth doula

the perfect compliment to your birth team.

navigating pregnancy and birth can be challenging. a birth doula’s responsibility is to provide various non-medical support measures during labor to assist a woman and her partner (if present) guiding them through their unique birth experience. from hands-on techniques like massage therapy to guided meditations and mantras, a birth doula’s role spans a wide variety of avenues so as to enhance and normalize the beautiful, complex and often overwhelming process of childbirth.

molly’s doula offerings begin at week 32, initiating the labor preparation process in the treatment room. pulling from her background of massage therapy and acupuncture, molly and her clients come up with a weekly treatment schedule customized for the individual. around week 36, a 90-minute in-home visit is scheduled to meet with the client to go over the birth plan and how they have chosen to birth, whether it be in-home, at a birthing center, or at the hospital.

in that visit, other topics of discussion will include going over the stages of labor, any questions still looming from outside resources, timing contractions, and most importantly the desires and wishes of the client during their birth. two weeks prior to the estimated due date, molly will be available via phone, text and or email 24/7 to answer any questions or concerns as they arise. molly then attends the birth and guides her clients into the immediate postpartum period.

a postpartum session is also offered, in-home, usually a week or so after the baby is born to revisit and process the recent birth story. in that visit, molly will offer any support and guidance requested and provide resources to help facilitate as smooth transition as possible into motherhood.
